Natural home remedies for acne are much cheaper than any store bought treatments, so it’s always worth giving it a try!
Skincare Remedies are essential for beautiful healthy skin, but not just any type we prefer to go the natural route. Check out these 5 natural remedies to help eliminate pimples.
1. Facial Steaming
Facial steaming doesn’t just open up your pores, it also prevents blockage which can cause pimples. facial steaming also helps you to shed the dead skin on your face, kills any bacteria on or underneath the skin and it also removes makeup that might have been left behind even after using a facial wash.
I would advise a facial steam at least once per week; you don’t want to do this too often as it might dry out the natural oils in your skin.
2. Tea Tree Oil
This natural oil doesn’t exactly eliminate the pimples but it can remove the sports or scarring that acne can leave behind. You’ll need to mix the oil with water and apply on the spots daily to see results.
3. Honey
A half cup of honey mixed with some oatmeal makes for a great acne mask because honey contains antibiotics. You’ll need to let it sit on your face for about 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. The honey will also leave you with glowing skin.
4.Witch Hazel
This natural remedy can dry out the pimples that might pop up on your skin. Witch Hazel is in most pharmacies and beauty supply stores. Just soak some of the liquid onto a piece of cotton and use it to gently wipe your face twice per day, or as needed.
It’s a natural toner and astringent. If you use over the counter products you can also read the ingredients and find toners, moisturizers etc that contain witch hazel.
5. Lemon Juice
Lemon is great in more than one ways, first it can help to dry out pimples quicker. Second if you apply it directly to acne marks it can eventually cause them to fade.
6. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains powerful alpha hydroxy acids to help remove dead skin cells and reveal a fresher and healthier complexion underneath them.
7. Potatoes & Tomatoes
Raw potatoes are rich in minerals like Potassium, Sulphur and Phosphorous, and essentially these minerals are excellent for skin care. There is also the presence of vitamins and antioxidant compounds in raw potato juice, which helps improve the skin tone and has antibacterial properties. Also, the enzymes present in the pulp of raw potatoes are excellent for skin care.
The peel of a raw potato is also known to be highly effective in combating skin problems. In many cases it’s recommended that you blend the raw potato with its skin and apply the paste to your face for better results.
Here are various benefits of skin care that you can accrue from applying raw potatoes:
- It helps control and prevent acne, pimples and blackheads.
- It helps soothe the inflammation on skin wounds, burns and cuts.
- Its antibacterial property helps cure skin warts.
- Eye bags and dark eye skin can be treated effectively with grated raw potato.
- It helps clear the facial skin by cleansing the excess oil.
DIRECTIONS: Rub the raw potato slices on acne, pimples, burns or warts, so that the juice of the potato is spread across the affected area. Leave it to dry for 30 minutes, or even over-night.
As far as tomatoes, they keep the skin healthy.
It is necessary to consume tomatoes as they have lycopene, which is an antioxidant and hence works as a sunscreen from within. These antioxidants make tomato an anti-aging product as they help in fighting cellular damage and reddening of skin.
8. Cinnamon & Honey
Overproduction of sebum which makes your skin excessively oily and the proliferation of bacteria are known to play a significant role in the formation of pimples. But cinnamon counters both these factors.
Research shows that cinnamon acts against acne-causing bacteria like Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes. It might also be beneficial for excessively oily skin, as it has been found to inhibit an enzyme known as 5α-reductase which modulates hormones that stimulate sebum production.
One study also found that a combination of cinnamon and honey worked better against acne-causing bacteria (than cinnamon alone,) so you might want to apply a paste of these two to tackle acne.
Cinnamon is also said to improve fine lines by plumping the skin. This means that using cinnamon can stimulate blood vessels and bring blood to the surface of the skin.
You can also use a mixture of 3 drops essential oil of cinnamon and 2 tbsp honey, olive oil, or petroleum jelly. Apply this mixture to fine lines on the skin, taking care to avoid the eyes.
9. Yogurt & Honey
Yogurt calms the complexion.
And let’s be real, honey is the go-to natural beauty product for everything. It’s nature’s 3-1 soap.
10. Change Your Eating Habits
Eat healthy and eat clean for glowing skin.
You really are what you eat. Limiting greasy and sugary foods helps stop premature aging and oily skin. Fast food and junk food might taste great, but it wreaks havoc on your skin. Eating more natural foods, such as fruits and vegetables, gives your skin the nutrients it needs to stay healthy and beautiful.
Caring for yourself in an all natural way is easy. A few changes in habits and products is all you need to do.
11. Stay Hydrated
Obviously, drinking ample water every day is vital to flushing out harmful toxins that can age skin prematurely. You still need to moisturize your skin from the outside as well.
Look for moisturizes with natural anti-oxidants and vitamins. Products with aloe, honey, natural oils and fruit based ingredients often work best while improving the overall look and feel of skin.
