Concealer is every woman’s secret weapon, if used correctly. If not applied correctly, it can result in a mess.
But don’t worry, we have the best tips to ensure your concealer is applied correctly every time.
To help you make the most out of your concealer, here are 7 mistakes that you should always avoid…
ย
Mistake #1: Choosing a shade that is too light
No matter how dark your eye circles are, it is not enough reason for you to opt for a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your skin color.
The point here is to conceal the circles. The only way you can do that is by ensuring that the color of your face (and the skin surrounding your eyes) are of the same shade.
When you go for a lighter shade, you will just highlight your blemishes, instead of concealing it.
ย
Mistake #2: Forgetting to set the concealer
Just like any other product, women must take time to allow the concealer to set. This can be done by dusting the concealed part w/ translucent powder.
The best way to apply translucent powder is w/ the use of an eyeshadow brush. Never ever forget this step as doing this prevents the creasing and caking of concealer.
ย
Mistake #3: Not using the right formula
Different formulations of concealers exist for a good reason. Each formulation has its own benefits and purposes.
For example, solid concealers provide better coverage and are perfect for concealing blemishes. On the other hand, liquid options are great in concealing dark circles.
Mistake #4: Applying concealer before foundation
While many women would disagree w/ this, there are actually many reasons why concealer must be applied after foundation.
First off, putting concealer after foundation will prevent it from smearing and smudging, so there is no need for you to re-apply.
Also, doing this gives you a chance to evaluate if the foundation has already provide enough coverage. If that’s the case, applying concealer would be too much.
ย
Mistake #5: Adding multiple layers
When women are not satisfied with the coverage of the concealer, then tend to pile it on. This is a no-no as it will only lead to cakeyness.
Piling on many layers of concealer will only highlight fine lines and cause the opposite effect of what you’re trying to achieve.
The best way to fully cover dark circles is to use color corrector before using concealer. You could also skip a step, and use a color-correcting concealer alone.
Mistake #6: Not blending properly
When it comes to applying concealer, blending is the secret key. In addition to blending the concealer in the affected area, you should also blend the concealer into the skin surrounding the area.
It is quite a difficult skill to master, but w/ time and effort, you will achieve perfect blending.
Mistake #7: Applying concealer using strokes
Whether you are using your fingers or brushes for the application, stroking concealer is never the right answer.
Keep in mind that you should apply concealer with light tapping motions. This will allow you to achieve a natural and flawless finish.
